Two male adults between the ages of 34 and 42 are to serve eight years imprisonment as declared by Justice Musa Damba Kamara for engaging in an act of sexual penetration with girls under the ages of 6 and 8 respectively.
The convicts were arrested on various dates in 2019 and investigated over alleged reports of engaging in sexual act with a child, and were later separately charged to court for the criminal offence of sexual penetration and after preliminary hearings were conducted at the Magistrate Court they were committed for trial at the High Court without bail.
According to the particulars of offence in the police charge sheet, the 34 year old convict on 12th November 2018 in Freetown had sexual penetration with a six year old girl whilst the 42 year old convict in June 2018 in Freetown on more than two occasions had sexual intercourse with the 10 year old girl.
Based on evidence, the 42 year male adult was dragged to court after failing to refund the sum of Le350, 000.000 (three hundred and fifty thousand Leones) as agreed with the victim’s parents.
Both convicts after pleading guilty asked for mercy but the state prosecutor recommended seven years imprisonment instead of the maximum sentence of fifteen years.
Justice Musu Kamara in tempering justice with mercy slammed eight years jail term on each of the convicts to be served at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
