SLAJ, Civil Society Organizations, ITC engineers, MDAs , Parliamentary Committee Representatives on Information and Legislation, All Political Party Association, among others, have today Friday 23rd April 2021 endorsed the Draft Cybercrime Bill 2020. They felt satisfied that almost all their respective in puts or suggestions have been reflected in the draft bill following a power point presentation by the Acting Director of Communications Mr. Muminie Jalloh at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Aberdeen.
The excited Minister of Information and Communications, Mr Mohamed Rahman Swaray, had this to say:
“Let me take this opportunity to thank all of us for the support my ministry has received from you thus far to ensure that we create a safe and secure Cyber space to safeguard national interest, preserve human rights, provide security and prosperity for all Sierra Leonean citizens”
However, in response to a few fresh concerns raised by some stakeholders during response time, the Acting Director of Communications Mr. Jalloh remarked thus:
“The power to change anything in the draft bill now lies in the hands of Parliament. What we are doing at this moment is lobbying the Members of Parliament present here”
