MBSSE Continues to Support Early Childhood Development

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education under the New Direction of President Bio through the Global Partnership for Education and UNICEF-SL support to the FQSE. Sierra Leone which was once known as the Athens of West Africa, in the last decades dropped drastically in its educational standards. The ministry under the leadership of Dr David Sengeh has embarked on restructuring the policies and structures.

The ministry in partnership with private institutions like ORANGE SL and Mercury International are putting up over 100 classrooms in over 20 chiefdoms like Safroko Limba chiefdom, Gbanti chiefdom etc. Phase one of the GPE project is 90% completed and 100% completion is expected by August to start off the 2021/2022 school year as government strives to get Sierra Leoneans the basic foundation at the preschool level at an early age to boost the quality of education.
