Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone, Sunday July 18,2021—- The Bo-Kenema Network Rehabilitation and Expansion Project has received a big boost with the arrival and subsequent installation of the second consignment of some thirty thousand prepaid meters for the cities of Bo and Kenema.
Project Supervisor for Shen Clug Company in Sierra Leone,Sheka Mansaray, said the second consignment of prepaid meters had brought the total number of meters the project had received to fifty thousand, adding that the first consignment of twenty thousand meters was delivered a fortnight ago. He said his company was responsible for the installation of the meters in Bo and Kenema.
He said the consignment also include accessories which are critical to the overall successful implementation of the project, stressing that his company had the required personnel and the expertise for the successful implementation of the project.
Mr. Mansaray said there were single and three face meters in the package, noting that the new meters enjoyed massive advantages over the old ones in that they could take low voltages and that instead of being installed at homes they could be installed on poles. This, Mr. Mansaray said would prevent illegal electricity abstraction and its attendant revenue loss to EDSA.
Acting Deputy Director General for Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), Fofi Baimba, said they were preparing for the regional CLSG power, adding that faulty meters would be replaced and the installation would target legitimate consumers in the cities of Bo and Kenema.
Mr. Baimba said the installation of the meters was going simultaneously with the overhauling of the network infrastructure. He noted that President Bio and the Minister of Energy were taking the CLSG project seriously, adding that the Minister was constantly visiting a major hub at Tiloma, the latest of such visits being the one he made yesterday.
He said erection of poles and stringing of cables was at advanced stages and assured of quality, sustainability and affordability. He concluded by saying that government was aware of the importance of completing the project within the project timeframe.
