Sierra Leone’s outgoing Ambassador to Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt; H.E. Morie Fofana play host to the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected executive members of the of the Sierra Leone Community in conference room of the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt on July 30, 2021.
His Excellency Ambassador Morie Fofana congratulated the newly elected Sierra Leone Community Executive and urged them to exemplify a commitment to the community that is astounding. He called on the Executive to make service delivery the most paramount in their mind and put ego aside. He further stressed the need for them to maintain the peace and unity they are enjoying in Egypt. The Ambassador ended that H.E. President Dr. Julius Bio is passionate in his belief that the future of Sierra Leone depends on youths and young leaders who have developed themselves and are prepared to take up the mantle of leadership.

In his acceptance speech, the new Community President of the Sierra Leone Community in Egypt, Abdul Rahman Yillah, thanked the Embassy for its continuous support and guidance. He pledged his commitment to ensure the accomplishment of the community’s plans and programs and promised to live up to the expectations of membership of the Sierra Leone Community in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The in-coming President reiterated his determination to make the community greater and maintain peace and unity. While he reaffirms his willingness to drive their common aim irrespective of divergent views, he maintained that they must collectively stand and be ready to implement their policies. “Let us work together now so that we can be congratulated someday” the president affirmed. In concluding his statement, the President recognized and applauded former President Victor Nikita Peters (Papa Pee) for helping to construct the community platform he is building upon today. He also conveyed thanks and appreciation to the outgoing executive members, the Ambassador and the entire staff of the Embassy for the immeasurable support accorded to Sierra Leoneans in the Arab Republic of Egypt
The Head of Chancery of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Egypt, Mr. Samuel Alie Kargbo, informed the gathering of the Embassy’s abiding belief that the Sierra Leone Community is an important instrument of transformation for the Embassy and the country. He made it clear that he understands the nature of the community executive and was anxious to advance the partnership and connectivity that are vital to the Embassy’s work. He assured the Executive of the Embassy’s usual support within its domain.
The statement of the Head of Chancery was followed by the presentation of Emblem of Office by the outgoing Ambassador who was assisted by Head of Chancery Mr. Samuel Alie Kargbo and Mrs. Fatmata H. Lahai.
The inauguration Ceremony took place in the conference room of the Embassy in Cairo. The event was attended by different personalities. In attendance at the occasion were the President of the Nigerian Community in Egypt, Kabiru Abubakarr, Peter Olufosoye, CEO Olufosoye Fashions and Business Consultancy and Former Community President, Victor Nikita Peters; outgone community president, the newly elected executives as well as staff of the Embassy of Sierra Leone.
The inaugural ceremony was climaxed with a dinner the following day that was attended by other members and guests from South Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, chad and Tanzania with the adherence of strict COVID-19 Protocols. There was a great camaraderie, joy and excitement among all.
