Dr. Taylor’s emergence in the political dynamics of the East Rural District has been phenomenal. This gave him a big political boost and ensured his election as Chairman—East Rural District of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party–SLPP.
The crowd puller and tactician has established a sound foundation for the SLPP in the district, an area where the SLPP had always struggled to perform.
Dr. Taylor’s type of politicking is one which focuses more on the ordinary supporters who account for bulk votes of the Party. Party supporters in east rural district of Waterloo are more than impressed by having a politician like Dr. Taylor as Chairman—East Rural District.
Waterloo in the past had been a traditional stronghold of the main opposition APC, but this perception has however changed since Dr. Taylor showed up in the political limelight of Waterloo.
He’s not just canvassing people to support the party, but he’s as well rigorously advancing President Bio’s New Direction Government which seek to address the socio-economic factors of Sierra Leone.
The APC can never have a field day in the current east rural district where the SLPP is led by Dr.Taylor. Going forward, Waterloo will be a battlefield where one single political party will never have it all as usual. This was manifested in the 2018 general elections when the SLPP gave the APC a run for their money, and denied them having the lion’s share of votes as was the case in the past.
Politics nowadays is about tangibles and one’s interpersonal relationship with one’s people. The people are the major assets of any successful politician or political party. Failing to treat them with respect and humanity will have an adverse consequences.
