Magistrate Sahr Kekura presiding at the Pademba Road court has remanded one Abass Kamara, 42, a Labourer to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown for alleged murder.

The Accused is being tried on one count charge of murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 11407 Kpulum Musu, alleges that the Accused on Friday 22nd December 2021 at Allen-town in the East end of Freetown murdered one Sorie Kamara.

In his testimony, Abu Kanu younger brother to the deceased said he knew the accused as his friend and recalled on the date in question.

He told the court that on the day of the alleged murder, he was at home with his friends when one Dauda informed him that they have killed his elder brother.

He said upon receiving the information, he left his friend and went to the scene at Allen town adding that when he arrived at the scene he was not allowed to enter into the room where the remains of his brother was kept.

He continued that someone later informed him that a lady whose name was not mentioned has reported the matter to the police.

He said while he was still at the scene, police arrived and he was able to get access to the alleged room, I observed swelling on my brother’s face , I saw wounds on his feet and I saw a bucket mixed with water and blood , I also saw stick with nails attached to it, he said.

The witness told the court that the police later took photos of the alleged scene and when he came out someone told him that it was one Cole that killed his brother.

He concluded that after some days, he was called to witness the post-mortem and he was later contacted to make statement at the Central Police Station

Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to Tuesday 8th February, 2022 for further hearing.
