Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Her Excellency Haja Ishata Thomas has today awarded Al Musairie National Trading and Contracting Company a Plaque of Appreciation in recognition of its commitment to protecting Sierra Leonean workers in Kuwait.
Welcoming Al Musairie’s Safety and Human Resource Manager, Minister Counsellor Momodu Wurie revealed that the essence of the award was to recognize the company’s commendable work to treat Sierra Leoneans fairly and involve them in the quality improvement process.
Extending thanks to Al Musairie’s Human Resource Manager Aloysius Ebugeogu for honouring the invitation amidst a busy schedule, Her Excellency Haja Ishata Thomas observed that the Mission was pleased with support to Sierra Leoneans working in the company, adding that the Sierra Leone Union in Kuwait had recommended Al Musairie for its numerous interventions, especially in paying end of service benefits, transferring to another company, supporting sick workers, among others.
“We invited you here to commend and honour your company with a plaque of appreciation for the humane treatment extended to our nationals while on duty. When I assumed duty in 2018, our nationals, who were employed by private companies, complained about low wages, illegal termination of contracts, late payment etc. This is not the case for your company. I am also happy to inform you that the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Sierra Leone are concluding the Labour Agreement to sanitise the recruitment process between the two countries. The Agreement aims to promote and protect the interest of Sierra Leoneans working in Kuwait. When the Agreement is ratified, the Embassy will recommend your company for the recruitment of skilled workers from Sierra Leone,” Ambassador said.
Presenting the plaque of appreciation on behalf of Sierra Leoneans in Kuwait, she appealed for employment and urged the company to continue protecting their interest.
Receiving the Plaque on behalf of the General Manager, Aloysius Ebugeogu, the Safety and Human Resource Manager of Al Musairie Company expressed appreciation for the Plaque in recognition of their assistance to Sierra Leoneans, adding “I am excited to realise that our work is appreciated. This gives us the courage to do more. I have always identified myself as a Sierra Leonean, and that is why I respond to their issues speedily.” He assured of his company’s support to protect Sierra Leonean workers and recruit more skilled workers after the finalization of the Labour Agreement.
