Thirty one (31) Sierra Leoneans duped online for jobs in Senegal will be repatriated tomorrow Wednesday 1st September, 2021.

On Tuesday June 22nd, 2021, the Sierra Leone Embassy in Senegal led by Ambassador Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma paid a visit to their location in the region of Thies.

These Sierra Leoneans were duped by online scammers after paying $1,000 each to be employed for jobs paid $1,000 monthly in Dakar.

The online job scammers, a Sierra Leonean and a Guinean were arrested and detained by the Senegalese police in Thies.

The Embassy engaged the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for possible repatriation of the Sierra Leoneans. Their cases were looked into and profiled for repatriation whilst the Sierra Leone Embassy prepared Emergency Travel Certificates for those without passports.

The 31, will depart Senegal tomorrow Wednesday September 1, 2021 where they will be re-integrated in their communities.
