As District multi stakeholders’ platform mandate stands to meditate and dialogue on land conflict and disputes. MSP take in-depth research on the economic livelihood activities of the local habitat,  since the  eruption of conflict between Temne and Fulla clans of Makaneh community in the Tainkatopie Chiefdom of Port Loko District.

Port Loko District Multi Stakeholders Platform, however, with the responsibility of settled land related issues would want to intervene and resolve the long standing conflict, which discouraged young people to stay in the community to engage in agriculture on their land. However, this conflict has resulted to the low production of food crops which has led shortage of food in Port Loko District. Hence, the MSP will look into possible ways in which food crisis.

In light of the above, the MSP has found out that household income is a big challenge. According to the farmers, this is the case because most of the foods consumers in the community come from the city and some other part of the country.

The MSP further found out that most of the women who depend on the cultivation of vegetables for their social economic livelihood have been shattered with no hope of revamping their business. They however expressed concern that the only solution to their problem will be an intervention by the MSP.

The Fullah clan in Makaneh community are cattlle  rearers  whose economic impact are much encouraging to sustain their household income .

As advocacy group we deem it necessary that these findings would serve as an eye opener for quick dialogue and mediation of the two clans. MSP has concluded its investigation and will further recommend to donor partners for their urgent intervention.
