On Wednesday 7th September 2022, the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) informed the media and civil society organisations on the ongoing voter registration being conducted across the country.
Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, the Chief Electoral Commissioner acknowledged that since the commencement of the voter registration exercise on 3rd September this year, there have been series of hiccups but was pleased to report that most of those have been resolved, that over 415,465 voters have been registered so far and acknowledged that their target is to register a total of 3.7 million voters by the end of the exercise.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner also informed the public about the threats being posed by the notorious Adebayo that ECSL registration equipment would be vandalized and looted as he and his cronies are bent on disrupting the entire process but assured all that their work would not be interrupted by anyone as long as they are doing their constitutional duties.
