Ministry of Youth Affairs launchs Youth in Agriculture project

As on the 19 March 2021, the ministry of youth Affairs launch Youth in Agriculture project in Port Loko District, the ceremony took place at Maforki community center in Maforki Chiefdom Port Loko District. The laughing ceremony attracted Paramount Chief, District youth Council , Chiefdom youth Council and other relevant stakeholders in the ministry of youth Affairs.

Giving the key note address, the Minister of Youth Affairs,

Mohamed Oman Bangura said that the project is design to transformed the lives of youth in Sierra Leone. He said the youth in Agriculture is part of President Julius Mazda Bio commitment to promote Agriculture through engaged Youth in rice cultivation, so as to boost food security at Chiefdom, District and the country at  large.

Hon Mohamed Oman Bangura further stated that the project will cultivate one thousand, three hundred acute (1,300) and will employ six hundred and fifty Youth (650), he went on to say that each chiefdom will cultivate one hundred acute to compliment in the project desire goal.

Hon Mohamed Oman Bangura underscore some of the project the ministry of youth Affairs as implemented i.e Youth in fishery, car wash and support of loan scheme to boost the economic growth of the  Youth in the country.

The Honourable Minister called on the Paramount Chief to own the project and serve as supervisor and monitor to see the achievement of the project. Hon Oman Bangura stated that if the project is actual it will revamp stop of importation of rice to Sierra Leone .He caution the youth not to politicians the project.

The regent Chief of Bakeh Loko chiefdom, Mr Foday Santigie Kanu applued the effort of government to engage Youth with are refer as  the engine of Agricultural development in Sierra Leone , he said that project is very timely to boost food security. Regent Paramount Chief of Bakeh Loko chiefdom use the forum caution the youth to use goled opportunity to compliment government effort to cut the importation of rice to Sierra Leone.

The District Agriculture Officer Port Loko District, Mr Charles Alpha Bangura  said that government as procure twenty tractors and power tillers for effective rice cultivation and promote meachization .He stated the initiative will improve the rapid investment in Agriculture.mr Bangura express the willingness to collaborate and provide the technical advise in assured the project achieve is desire goal.

The District Youth council chairman Port Loko District, Mr Foday Wakay praises the ministry of youth Affairs for lauable Project , he assure ministry of youth Affairs for their commitment.
