Njala University’s New Acting Vice Chancellor & Principal, Professor Andrew Baimba has on 27th July 2021 paid a courtesy call on major stakeholders in Bo District.
Purpose of the visit according to the University Registrar, Dr. Muneer Jalloh was to introduce him to major stakeholders in Bo especially so when one of the University campuses housing over 7,000 students is located within the Bo judicial area.
The appointment of Professor Andrew Baimba as Acting Vice Chancellor & Principal comes a month ago following the relieval of his predecessor Professor Osman Sankoh (Mallam O) who during his transient days in Njala University instituted reforms which now form the blueprint of development in the University.
Making a statement, Paramount Chief, Prince Lappia Boima 4th of Kakua Chiefdom expressed delight to the Njala delegation for the respect accorded him and his traditional authorities as tradition demands and pledged to always be of support to the Njala University Administration.
Hon. PC Prince Lappia Boima himself being an alumnus of the Njala University said he is grateful to have students and staff of the University resident in Bo who are also positively contributing to the development of the District.
Regional Police Commander South, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia on behalf of the Inspector General of Police also thanked the Njala entourage for the courtesy call adding that as Police officers with a constitutional mandate to protect lives and property, his personnel are always ready and willing to respond to distress calls from Njala University and reiterated his policy of proactive policing which he said will be thoroughly exhausted before exploiting required options where necessary.
He emphasized the need to leverage the existing partnership and convivial relationship between the Njala University Administration and his predecessor AIG William Fayia Sellu and pledged to provide the requisite support and maximum cooperation in relation to matters affecting both staff and students.
Responding, Acting Vice Chancellor & Principal, Njala University, Professor Andrew Baimba on behalf of the University Administration expressed profound gratitude to all stakeholders in Bo District for their collective support towards the growth of Njala University adding that his administration will continue to harness the existing ties between the administration and stakeholders.
Professor Andrew Baimba is undoubtedly an accomplished academic scholar who has spent considerable amount of his academic heydays in the then Njala University College and now Njala University. He had prior to his retirement worked diligently as a Research and Teaching Assistant, Dean, School of Technology, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Njala Campus, Chairman, Curriculum and Policy Review Committee, Chairman, Committee of Deans and of course Deputy Vice Chancellor Bo campus where he served for considerable number of years before proceeding on retirement.
He was appointed a month ago as a Caretaker Acting Vice Chancellor & Principal by the President Bio led government to among onerous duties superintend the recruitment of a substantive Vice Chancellor & Principal in Njala University.
