The issue of teachers with pin code and not on the government’s payroll has plagued the Teaching Service Commission for over three years now. In 2018, following a national payroll cleansing exercise in which over 2000 government employees (including 989 teachers) were expunged from the payroll due to mismatches in their data across other government platforms (NCRA, and NASSIT). As a Commission, we have and continue to work assiduously with NCRA and NASSIT to help our teachers correct their data. However, there still remained a category of teachers with complete mismatch and those who could not present themselves for the exercise for obvious reasons, and could not be reinstated.

During the recruitment of 5000 teachers across the country in 2019/2020, some teachers, after filling ED forms and receiving pin codes (which were needed for their NASSIT registration), again, verifying their data against NCR’s, also had mismatches.

There was also another category of those who had their certificates verified and were discovered have fake/falsified certificates.

While most of these factors can be attributed to deliberate efforts to beat the system, the Commission also recognizes that some could be attributed to “human factor” in the processes involved in teacher recruitment. This is why the Commission has been working with the teachers through the years to address these issues.

From Wednesday, 1st September 2021, the TSC has started a nation-wide verification exercise of the data and credentials of 1,353 teachers reported to have received pin codes, but yet to be on payroll. The exercise will last till Thursday, 10th September 2021.

The Commission will duly inform the public of the findings of this exercise, and hopefully the issue of pin code without salary will be a thing of the past by October 2021.

Keep an eye on this space for more update on this issue.
