The Acting Vice Chairman of the All Political Parties Association (APPA) and Deputy National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Commissioner Robert Kondema Kargbo, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing inclusive leadership that promotes peace, unity, and collaboration among Sierra Leone’s political parties.

Speaking on how he intends to balance his responsibilities as Acting Vice Chairman of APPA and Deputy National Chairman of the SLPP, he stated that both positions are guided by a common objective of strengthening democratic governance and fostering national cohesion. He emphasized that his role in APPA is to provide leadership that brings all political parties together in the interest of the nation.

“Our responsibility is to provide leadership and ensure that we bring all political parties on board,” he stated. “While some parties, including the Unity Party and the APC, are currently not part of APPA and may feel they do not need to belong to the association, I believe it is time to change that narrative. We must all come together because peace, dialogue, and national cohesion require the participation of every political stakeholder.”

Kargbo noted that thirteen registered political parties unanimously endorsed his appointment as Acting Vice Chairman, describing the decision as a demonstration of confidence in his ability to serve all political parties fairly and impartially. He stressed that APPA exists to promote constructive engagement among political actors and to ensure that issues of national importance are approached with a collective voice.

Drawing on his background in corporate governance, civil society advocacy, public engagement, and multi-sector leadership, he  pledged to use his experience to strengthen APPA as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and democratic consolidation. He emphasized that his acceptance of the position is not about advancing partisan interests but about serving the collective interests of all political parties and contributing to a more peaceful and united Sierra Leone.

He concluded by reaffirming that his leadership within APPA will be anchored on inclusiveness, transparency, mutual respect, and results, while working to build stronger relationships among political parties for the benefit of democracy and national development.
